Bootstrap

Today, I am reviewing Bootstrap because I want to make my own website for my small business. I used Bootstrap for my website projects back in the second year of my college, my prof taught us how and now I don’t remember.

I lost my programming files so I have to start over. And I start with reviewing the necessary tools for development.

What is Bootstrap?

In my own words, it makes life easier. I mean, I don’t need to code from scratch. If I am to start from zero, then I have to code the css by myself, code the javascripts, etc. etc.

I am not a hardcore coder. Heck, I just wanted to take programming classes so that I will be able to make my own website haha. And now it’s kinda annoying that I cannot find the time to code =3= Got lots of stuffs to do at school and work.

Bootstrap is like a template you see here in WordPress but the difference is you will do the UI (user interface) by yourself. I mean, yeah Bootstrap has a css for forms and buttons but you’ve got to make them appear of course. Unlike just getting a template online then edit it like in WordPress.

I was checking some templates for a small business online but I didn’t find what I like. I admit that getting a template would be a lot easier, and they are more professional-looking, but I don’t really need all those glamorous features and other stuffs. I don’t think they will fit with the process or design I have in mind. Besides, too many stuffs on the screen might overwhelm the user or distract them away from the products I want to sell. Other templates are nice because the focus goes to your products but the problem is, my products demand some different style of being shown. (It’s just my personal taste, lol.)

Besides, I must learn again how to create a website so that when I look for a job, I will be confident.

But like I said from my first post, I don’t want to be an employee. I wanna do freelance. And this project (my online shop) could be the first stepping stone to that.

Plus, I’m getting left behind. Technology changes rapidly. Now there are a lot of ways of programming that I was unaware of. I need to catch up.

I would like to make time for studying developing stuffs again.

Perfect face for COSPLAY?

Today, I was browsing my Facebook account when I stumbled upon one post:

lol1

A bunch of people, cosplayers and non-cosplayers, have reacted negatively to this post of Best of Anime (BOA).

Here’s a sample:

lol2

I am not destroying BOA’s reputation (I have attended some of their events and I enjoyed) by spreading this post, I am just sharing the news and I will give my view and speculations about it.

NOTE: This is just my opinion. I might be sarcastic, but I’m just being real :v

First, the no. 1 qualification: FEMALE

  • Perhaps they have chosen female over male because females are more into cosmetics. But as what the people have commented on the post, “Why female only? There are male cosplayers!”
  • Why is that? Because dude, females attract more audience than males do! Take note that between boys and girls, which one would pursue the opposite sex? It’s the boys!
  • Therefore, if the model is female, ohohoho~ They’ll get a lot of audience. Plus, males are into beautiful and sexy women. In cosplay events, which of the male and female get flocked by people and photographers? IT’S THE WOMEN.

Second, the no. 2 qualification: CHINESE/JAPANESE-LOOKING

  • “OH MY GOD!” is probably what people are thinking right now on that one. People with no Chinese or Japanese blood, you’re out.
  • We are in Philippines, and you want Chinese/Japanese looking models? “First blood!”
  • Looking back to Philippines’ history, during the ancient times, we have been trading with the Chinese people already and they have become part of the Filipino genes (a lot of Filipinos have Chinese roots). We were also invaded by Japan which gives some of us Japanese genes. But heck! That’s too much to wish. The only people that will qualify on that one would be those kids who have pure Chinese/Japanese parents :v
  • In the population of Filipino cosplayers, I am sure that people who look like Chinese/Japanese would be hard to find. Their population is too low. Maybe 1-5% :v
  • I’m out already because I don’t look Chinese/Japanese
  • Isn’t the purpose of the make-up tutorial is for us to look like an anime? So if you use such model, it defeats the purpose. lol

Third: DIAMOND SHAPED FACE

  • I am not sure if mine is Square or Diamond or Oblong.
  • Maybe the chose that face shape because it will look good with any styles (what style? I don’t know.)
  • Perhaps they think that anime characters have diamond shaped faces :v
  • I can’t distinguish face shapes so I cannot comment on this one.

Fourth: SHAVED EYEROWS

  • “ACE!”
  • No girl would ever, EVER, shave her eyebrows!
  • We’re not in the era of Mona Lisa wherein absence of eyebrows is beauty. We’re in the era wherein girls shape their eyebrows perfectly and even use stuffs to make it look beautiful.
  • They want to make a cosplay tutorial right? Why not just use cosmetics or whatever is necessary to hide the eyebrows and make it look thin? :v
  • I can’t imagine myself without my eyebrows. Eery.

Fifth: HAS THIN DOUBLE EYELIDS

  • I don’t fucking know what that is. But I asked Google. And I was like: “wtf”.
  • I have double eyelids but I am not sure if they are thin or thick. But the point is, they are looking for Chinese/Japanese-looking female with double eyelids? Isn’t that contradicting? Because such people normally have no double eyelids! I have friends whose eyes are slanted and they definitely do not have double eyelids.
  • Why not just use this product:
  • eyelid
  • That’s what my friend use because she has no double eyelids :v You glue that to your eyelid to make another eyelid.

Sixth: USED TO WEARING MAKE-UP

  • I can understand why would they search for a woman used to wearing make-up. One possible reason is that some people might be allergic to cosmetic products (like me) and if ever they experience allergic reactions, BOA might be held liable.
  • Another reason is so that the model can carry the look comfortably and can present herself well.
  • Plus, she can retouch herself.

Seventh: WITH VERY GOOD COMPLEXION

  • Anime characters usually are white-skinned. And make-up will look good with white people.
  • The problem is, Filipinos are tanned in nature. I used to be white, but I am too lazy to maintain my skin so I am currently tanned. And most of us are brown-skinned due to genes.
  • Why no just make a tanned girl look white? That’s the real make-up tutorial :v

So….people claim that BOA is discriminating.

As for me, it’s all about marketing. They chose the best-looking so as to boost marketing.

And another reason would be: They don’t know the real definition of Cosplay Make-up Tutorial.

Plus, it would be easier to get someone pretty than get someone not pretty and make her look pretty.

They didn’t put the qualifications that I think are the most important:

  • Must be a cosplayer.
  • Must be an anime otaku.
  • Must know the character to be portrayed by heart.

Well, what do you think? This issue is happening in Philippines but I bet cosplayers around the world can relate. And even the non-cosplayers.

Kabaneri!

I am not a kabane, but I am not a human too. I am a KABANERI!

So, today, I am watching this anime:

Title: Kabaneri of the iron fortress

It is a story about humans fighting monsters which they call “Kabaneri”.

What is a Kabane?

I don’t know dude, I’m still watching. Besides, that would be a spoiler isn’t it? What I am certain of is that Kabanes are formerly humans. If you get bit, you become one of them. Their hearts are shielded, it shines like a gold. Although Kabanes regen in a short amount of time making them invulnerable, they can still be killed. One of the many ways to do that is to shoot a steam gun on their heart. If the steam has enough pressure, it can pierce through their heart. Or you can make a weapon out of a kabane’s blood. And if you are a kabaneri, you can fight ’em off.

What is a Kabaneri?

Half human, half Kabane.

How is that possible?

Watch the anime dude.

In this anime, people live in stations. Transportation is through trains. Railroad is guarded since Kabanes might get in. If one station is attacked, they transfer to another station. People usually live a normal life until Kabanes attack them.

Kinda like Shingeki no Kyoujin right? But this one has some difference of course.

I’m in episode 9 now.

As of now, the main points of this anime are:

  1. You cannot survive just by hiding. You gotta fight.
  2. The strong survives, the weak dies.
  3. Humans are bullshit, they lose their humanity because of fear.
  4. Most humans are ungrateful.
  5. Don’t move without thinking first. One mistake can kill everyone.
  6. Some humans do not care about the current situation as long as they satisfy their own motives.
  7. You need to be strong. Don’t depend on someone else.
  8. A lot of people will betray you.
  9. Loyal servants are the best XD
  10. Thirst for revenge can eat your soul.
  11. Sometimes, the enemy is not your real enemy.

That’s all for now.

Voez

Played for a while~

Voez is a rhythym game that is kinda tricky. You tap the diamonds, but some would require you to slide them to right or left. Also, the colored bars change color and position so you get distracted, while some of the diamonds would chnage position too!

Another interesting part here is that for every achievement, you unlock a picture in the gallery that would show you a story of the characters here in Voez. Voez is actually the name of their band. So it feels like a novel game haha.

I don’t want to be an employee!

It’s Friday today. I’m supposed to be in my OJT or Internship but I am here, customizing my blog.

I told my manager that I will do my thesis today so I cannot go to work.

The truth is, I’ve been doing my thesis for the past nights. After work, I go to school to meet with my groupmates and do our thesis. Meeting with our adviser is usually 6 or 7pm and it usually takes an hour. Then, we will go to a café and discuss what to do. It ends usually by 9 to 10pm. My work and school are far from my home. Riding a motor bike with my father, it will take us almost 2 hours to get home, with the traffic jam time included. So, we arrive at home by 11pm to 12am.

We’ve been meeting for a few nights now so I am really lacking in sleep. My work starts at 7am so I must leave from our house by 5am.

My head feels like floating in the air now and I don’t want to end up sleeping at work then get caught by the superiors and explain why I am asleep and possibly be removed from the company.

I need to rest.

That’s one factor why I don’t want to be an employee. You are bound by the company’s demands. You need to go out and arrive at the workplace on time. Spend 9-10 hours a day working. At work, you can’t sleep or rest. You can’t do what you want. You commute with other people, public vehicles are loaded, and you get tired. You spend the whole day there. When you go home, you will have no time for other stuffs unless you are willing to sacrifice your sleep. And I can’t because I’m anemic.

I’ll just discuss this further next time. I wanna sleep.
